Yes Thai Fusion Bistro, designed by Hejidesign, is a stunning example of how modern minimalism can seamlessly blend with Southeast Asian elements to create a vibrant and inviting space. Located in Shenzhen, this restaurant takes inspiration from both modern Thai design and traditional Thai styles, resulting in a unique and captivating ambiance.
The design team at Hejidesign used a black and white backdrop to define the overall style of the restaurant, while also integrating Southeast Asian elements. The simple black, white, and grey color scheme gives a nod to the modern attitude of a minimalistic lifestyle and is consistent with the current trend towards natural foods and unpolluted spaces.
The entrance of Yes Thai Fusion Bistro is adorned with a pure black mosaic, serving as a subtle backdrop that draws attention to the restaurant's logo. The logo incorporates elements of the Thai language through the curled edges of the letters Y, T, and I, adding a touch of cultural authenticity to the design.
Inside the restaurant, the lounge area features a sofa, chairs, and tropical plants, adding to the overall modern vibe. The abstract black and white pattern that covers the floor is also reflected in the ceiling. LED lights augment the unconventional look of the reflected pattern by illuminating it with a purple glow. Curving LED lights wind across the entire surface of the ceiling, evoking an image of lights dancing on the surface of the Menam River in Thailand.
The seating area is covered by a slanted ceiling, decorated with the faint shadows of trees, making diners feel as if they are enveloped under the canopy of a river cruise. Bright blue lights form the sentence "Same, same, but different," a phrase familiar to anyone who has traveled to Thailand, adding a playful touch to the design.
The bar area, serving mixed drinks to both inside and outside seating areas, stays true to the overarching brand identity. It is decorated with silhouettes of tropical fruit, white paint, and stainless steel framing, creating a sleek and modern look.
The visual identity of Yes Thai Fusion Bistro, designed by JUKE Creative Design, uses abstract silhouettes of tropical vegetables and fruits, evoking the feeling of relaxing on the beach and listening to the sounds of the waves. The brand identity is designed using an open framework, displaying the contrast between brightness and shadow, while also maintaining the vibrancy of open space.
The project started in December 2019 and was completed in May 2020 in Shenzhen. Throughout the design process, the team at Hejidesign faced the challenge of paying tribute to both the modern and the traditional, entwining their commonalities and differences into a distinctively fresh design that creates an atmosphere that simply feels alive.
Yes Thai Fusion Bistro, with its blend of modern minimalism and Southeast Asian elements, is a testament to the creativity and innovation of Hejidesign. This design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021, showcasing its outstanding and creatively ingenious qualities that contribute to quality of life improvements.
